A profile of Bob Schmitt Homes, Inc.

A predecessor company of Bob Schmitt Homes, Inc. was founded in 1946 in Mansfield, Ohio by Bob Schmitt, a member of the Board of Directors of Bob Schmitt Homes, Inc. Bob Schmitt, the man behind Bob Schmitt Homes is a third generation home builder. With a background of practical experience, and problem solving of a professional education it is no surprise that in 1950 Bob completely reorganized the approach to building homes. He looked at the production of a home as an industrial process to which industrial type management should be applied. From this grew many systems and methods of home building, including energy conservation, that are in common use today.

Bob Schmitt & Bob Schmitt Homes, Inc. has worked on energy efficiency research with the National Association of Home Builders, the National Institute of Buildings Sciences and the Department of Energy since the early 1970’s. No one has made a more comprehensive study of the total residential energy package than we have.
We have also been honored with over thirty awards including Bob Schmitt’s appointment to NIBS by president Gerald Ford.

Today Bob Schmitt Homes is an integrated organization which has in it the experienced production and professional personnel to carry on land design and development, housing design & construction, landscaping and site amenity development and service personnel to complete the package. Many of our employees have been with us for over 25 years.

The heart of the production system is a storage and fabrication facility in which wall sections, kitchen and general cabinetry, doors and numerous other sub-assemblies are produced. This facility is also the material control center in which purchasing, material warehousing and material job delivery are performed.

A computerized quick reporting cost system is performed by our in house accounting department.

The product today is the neighborhood. Neighborhoods in which homes appreciate in value far beyond the average. This is because Bob Schmitt Homes believes a house to be a part of this larger unit, in which amenities such as recreation, park areas, general landscaping, a recreation center, a 50-meter swimming pool, playgrounds and other features that make up a small community.

The homes themselves provide a broad range of price, type and style to attract a full spectrum of people. The architectural design division works to custom design the house to the homeowners needs. From the beginning of the design process the buyer is able to meet with a professional architect who designs a dwelling that expresses their needs especially for them. They are then able to meet with our design coordinator to make their selections on a personal basis with a trained professional. We believe strongly in giving each new home buyer specialized individual attention based on their needs.

The foregoing is a very abbreviated profile of Bob Schmitt Homes, Inc. The homes and neighborhoods, the reputation of integrity, workmanship, competence, and energy efficiency all speak for themselves.
